Ayden has always been named my 'saving grace' and now Owen has been name my 'little angel'. These two boys have saved my life!

Negativity

Negativity is running rampid around here for some reason. It's interesting to me to see someone who literally has everything he wants, yet he can always find something to complain about. It's sad and pretty dern annoying!

I pray for certain people in my life and I do it daily but I guess I'm not praying enough for him. He's happy and then mad and then he's okay and then mad about something else. If there's some reason to pray for him, it's to make him happy. I do know that without God in his life, he can't truly find happiness. I know this because I've been there before and I realize that in order to find peace, which is what he needs, he must find God and live his life in Him.

I'm hoping this move to Pensacola will change some hearts in my family and help us move on to bigger and better attitudes!

Goodbye..

There's been a lot of death around the people I know lately. I, thankfully haven't had to experience the grief of that in several years but a lot of other's have.

The latest one was my girlfriend's brother. He was on a motorcycle and an 18-wheeler hit him. He was 27 when he died. They buried him on his 28th birthday. That is the extent of it .. it's hard for her to talk about and really, she doesn't want to talk about it so I just smile and move on to another subject.

There was a time in my life where it seemed like everyone was dying. One after another, they died and it scared me. "Who was going to be the next one to go" was my next thought. I always wondered if they were saved; if they were going to heaven or not. When I'm in heaven, I want to be able to run and hug the members of my family and the friends in my life that I've lost. I don't want anyone I know to be 'lost'. It breaks my heart .. I can only imagine how hard it is for God having to say "You're not in This Book" when those souls are sent to Hell.

I feel like though my girlfriend is a Christian, she doesn't know how to rely on God to get her through this. I don't know how to tell her she will make it through without her thinking she wants to tell me to shut up. I feel like I dealt with my dad's death well. I grieved and moved on and although I think about him a lot, I know he's in Heaven and that makes my burden much lighter. If you cannot make it through the bad times, how can you truly benefit from the good times?

Death happens daily. There's no escaping it, thanks to the Devil for tempting Eve. If it wasn't for my faith in God, I'd be a miserable person not knowing how to fully love and forgive. God knows what he's doing and has laid out a plan for each and every one of us. He knows the number of hairs on our heads. He knows when a sparrow dies. If he can care enough to know those 'miniscule' things, how much more important to Him do you think we are?

I've learned to appreciate the people I have in my life and the people that care about me enough to call or text or email me. Without those few, literally a handful of people, I don't know what I would do. I'd be sad. I remember being the happiest girl in the world.. the only thing that changed was death and unforgiveness. I forgave "him" and have started feeling a little bit happier.. I know there's a ton of happiness left for me and I have to find it again. I hope to find it again once we get back to Florida and I know where to find it. I just have to get off my butt on Sunday mornings and go :)

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is even though bad things happen, we can find the good in it and turn it around and be joyful instead of sad/mad. There's a time to grieve, but grieve and move on. Be happy, because if you live your life in strife and sadness, no one will want to be around you and how fun is that? Not very.

ENJOY your family, friends, life, anything around you because God has given it to you to enjoy and to share!

EARS!

For some reason, Ayden and I have horrible problems with our ears. I had 8-10 ear infections yearly until I reached 21. At 21, I had surgery on my ear that has left me partially deaf in my left ear. Thankfully I am able to hear well and don't seem to have problems hearing. I do say "huh" a lot, but the day someone tells me how annoying it is, that'll be the day I go get a hearing aid!

Ayden has a ton of ear infections as well and is on his second, stronger round of antibiotics. He'll be on medicine for half a month so I hope this time it gets cleared upI'. I hope he doesn't have to go through what I went through when I was young and hope it just vanishes. Can you imagine an ear infection for 20 days!? It just makes me sick!

Owen also has his first ear infections that he's fighting and is doing a great job at it. He woke up once last night so here's to a night of hopefully sleeping through the night. Maybe he won't have as many as I had when I was young. Todd never gets sick so I hope that is in Owen's genes.

I'm thankful for health insurance, sweet doctors and nurse practitioners and for medicine to help heal the boys. I have a lot to be thankful for and am glad we're on the road to recovery.

Hi. I'm Angela and I have a problem!

You know how you can go to church and it's like the pastor is talking directly to you? I think God does that to me in words of people around me. In the past 3 weeks, 3 people have talked about friendship and not knowing how to speak to strangers or how to approach someone in conversation.

Something similar happened to me with tanning in a tanning bed.. and I quit going, but that's besides the point.

My point is that I have a problem. I have family and very very few friends. I would love to have a friend or two that have kids and understand me, and what I'm going through.. not that I'm going through anything right now, but.. I don't know, just to have a friend. Someone who's there to encourage me and just be my friend! haha

I have people in my life that are nice to me but I can truly say I have maybe 4 friends. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing but that's what I have. I know that these 4 people would be there for me in a hot-minute if I needed them, so what am I complaining about?

How do you talk to people? How do you meet people that aren't crazy, or weird, or swingers (seriously) or their kids aren't bad?? I think my main 'problem' with meeting people is they don't discipline their kids and I don't want to hang out with them if the kids are bad. I can not handle parents with bad kids because I think it shows a lack of responsibility on the parent's part. Bad kids = lazy parents.

BLAH! :)

I guess sometimes I feel like I don't have a personality, that I'm just a mom and a wife and that's all I have to offer. My kids are awesome and loved but that shouldn't define who I am...

What we're up to..

We're finally moving back home. Our renters are moving out in August!! We're so excited to get back home to our family and the handful of friends we have left. It's funny, you invite people to weddings and baby showers and people don't RSVP or show up when they say they'll come.. Sometimes those are the people you don't want in your life anymore. Anyway. We have our house for sale still and hope that it sells quickly! Once it sells, we'll just have a mortgage payment in FL and that will be all we owe. It's amazing how not worrying about payments can revive your life. Now we have to find a good church to get into. Something that won't scare Todd off! Although, I'm not all about speaking in tongues in the middle of service.. that really gets me upset. We've got a lot on our minds when we move home and hope that it goes smoothly. The kids and I are moving back in June so a 2-day trip will be interesting to say the least. I'm sure we'll be fine. So, we're staying with my mom until August 1 and then we've rented a condo on Perdido Beach for the month of August and I cannot wait!

So, with my 'handful of friends' .. I'm hoping I can find some good women to hang out with. I sometimes think how sad and lonely I am not having anyone to talk to but I have to realize that a part of that problem is .. well.. me. I am afraid to socialize because I'm afraid I'll get hurt or that people won't like me. I gotta get into some sort of mommy-and-me group or something!

Ugh.

The boys are good. Owen is 10.5 months old and is finally crawling! He has 8 teeth and is a handful but so much fun! Ayden is almost done with school and is on his 3rd year of baseball and is loving it. Batting from a pitching machine is much harder than underhand, but he's doing great regardless.

Todd is well and is working hard for us. I'm so thankful I'm able to stay at home with the kids. It's something I never thought I'd want to do, but it truly gives my heart joy and I feel like this is why I'm alive right now.

Just a few more weeks and we'll be home... CAN NOT WAIT!

You're perfect to me

...Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel
Like you're less than, less than perfect
Pretty pretty please, if you ever ever feel like you're nothing
You are perfect to me!

This is one of Pink's new songs. It is explicit with the FBomb so get the good version instead of the F Version. I must say, this song was on tv the other day and if Todd wasn't walking around I probably would've ended up bawling my eyes out.

I always think I can be prettier, more toned, less flabby .. but you know what? I am perfect to someone - to my children and my husband and my God. I don't have to worry about what you think about me because I know I am loved and I am pretty and I am blessed and I am perfect in God's eyes.

This is a good running song, which is why I initially downloaded it, but I love the message in the song and could probably play it the entire run and not get bored with it.

That song and "Just the Way You Are" by Bruno Mars are for women - 100%! I have a lot more that I'm getting on my ipod but I just thought I'd share those :)

Anything worth doing is worth doing well!

Wow. Today, I woke up at 4:30 with Owen. Today is Friday so I knew once he went back to sleep, Ayden would need to wake up at 6:00 to get ready for school.

So, because I'm nuts, I worked out when Owen went back to sleep which was right at 5:15. As soon as I finished working out, I grabbed my protein shake, water and my breath and then got around with Ayden. He was off to school and Owen, after he woke up from his nap, and I waved goodbye to the bus. "Bye, Bye Ayden!"

So, since then, I have been busting my tail all day trying to get this house cleaned and in order for the market. I talked Todd into moving our living room furniture since we have a lot of it. We're thinking about staging it with a ton less furniture and I guess just moving it all into our trailer for storage.

I can say that when this house is officially on the market, I will be happy! Today has been tough. My hands are SO dry and they hurt but it's all worth it.

Nothing is worth doing if you don't do it well, right? I cannot wait to move home. I always wanted to live somewhere else. I just wanted to get away but FL is my home and I like it there.. well, AL will be our new home. ROLL TIDE! haha NOT :)

Anyways .. I've been up for 10 hours and I am pooped and will more than likely go to sleep early tonight but it's all been worth it. Tons more to do to today. Tomorrow we'll be outside working on the dead flowers/shrubs. BRR!

I really hope you're having a good day! And remember, anything worth doing is worth doing well!

Mornings with a smile

I try to wake up with Ayden in the mornings. I love seeing him and spending time with him before he leaves for school. If Todd wants to sleep through the night, I sleep in and don't get to see Ayden. I don't mind waking up with Owen.. I just want to see my big baby in the mornings :)

He encourages me. His faith in God is amazing!

He went to vacation Bible school this past summer and learned this song:
"Today is the day, You have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it."

His favorite part is saying "Oh Oh Oh" at the end ...

That reminded me to wake up happy. Why? If I don't wake up happy and in a good mood, my entire day is sad and gloomy. It easy to wake up bummed out. It's always easy to take the low road, isn't it? So, I wake up and decide to be happy today.

Why?

Because! Today is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it!
And
His mercies are new every morning.

I swear, some verses I have forgotten since Pensacola Christian Academy days but these verses have stuck and I'm glad they did.

I am happy. I am alive because of Him!

Are you moody and gloomy right now? You can change your vibe. Your attitude. Your mindset for the rest of the day. SAY IT OUT LOUD! Today is the day You have made. I will rejoice and be glad in it. I won't worry about tomorrow, I'm trusting in what You say. Today is the day! (Oh Oh Oh)

Have a nice day :D

I DID IT!

Silly post .. I'll warn you.

I drank 6cups of water and still have a few hours to go until bed so I'm going to go for 8 today.
This was on my list of daily things to do.

AND

I worked out with Jillian :) She rocks my socks.

That is all!

God. Tribulation. End Times?

I love reading about the 'end times' even though it freaks me out a bit. The unknown freaks me out, but I guess that's okay.

Just hearing about the black birds dropping dead in at least 2 states is creepy. Any time I hear stuff like that, I always say "It's the sign of the times." I don't know why that automatically pops into my mind.

I've never heard God. I know people who have. I don't think I've ever felt the Holy Spirit lead me because I feel as if the decisions are all mine. That, my friend, scares me to death.

How am I going to know if we are nearing the end times if I can't discern God's voice? It's confusing. It scares me.

I know where I'm going when I die. I know where my sons are going when they die (Lord, please rapture us!) I think I know where Todd's going .. I pray for him. I'm scared he isn't saved. I shouldn't post about this .. it's too personal. Please pray for him. He says he believes in God. Is that truly enough to be taken to heaven?

...

So .. have you ever heard the Lord speak to you? In an audible voice?

In your heart?

I know God brought my dad back to life .. for 6 more days he lived when he should've been in Heaven. This is how I know God is real. But, have I ever heard Him?

Scary. Isn't it?

God is a God that heals. Protects. Loves. He is my light and my salvation. Whom shall I fear?

This is what I hold in my heart - Hope. Faith. Love.

Shopping

I've never enjoyed shopping. I think it's because I had a baby when I was 19 years old and always had to rush around his schedule. Couldn't Didn't hang out with too many people because I didn't want to ruin his nap schedule *or* I was at work *or* I was at school. See, When I was just a wee-babe myself, I had a baby ... some people are good at socializing when they have newborns, but not this mamma. I do not like to rush. I also do not like large crowds. I find myself rushing while trying to dodge the morons in my way.

This is why I hate shopping.

I went shopping the other day. Alone. It was pretty frickin' sweet. I did rush, but I wasn't rushing because of the baby. It's just in my blood now. It's in my brain that I have to do everything quickly. 7.5 years of doing it this way and I wonder if I'll ever change. I don't think I'll ever enjoy shopping, even if I am alone. My mind doesn't rest. I think that's part of being a mom. Who knows.

Regardless - I did find a ton of tops that I've been needing for a long time. It's nice going into my closet now and not seeing only Old Navy tank-tops or dress clothes. I have nice clothes that didn't cost an arm and a leg and that makes me happy.

Don't get me started on shoes .. I think that's even worse than clothes shopping!

New me!

While I was soaking in the tub, I wrote down a page of ideas that I need to do.. Here's some to name a few:
Work out 4-5 times a week (I haven't worked out in 2 weeks.. stupid vacation)
Drink at least 6 cups of water daily
Limit my sugar/snacks intake
Cook 6 dinners weekly (Thankfully I do this almost always)
Love my husband/children more
Eat more fruit/nuts daily
Get my teeth fixed
Pray

I must say, writing that made me so happy! I love lists. I love it when I can cross something out showing that it has been accomplished. I am and always have been a visual learner and having that around will help motivate me. I think the thing that I'm most excited about is praying! I pray, but I don't pray. Do you know what I mean? "Dear Lord, thank you for this day. Please help us to sleep good, have good dreams and wake up feeling good in the morning in Jesus' name. Amen." That has been my prayer with Ayden for 7 years .. After that, I just go to bed. In order to get my life and my family's life straight - we've got to pray. I'm going to re-read my marital books.. those always help me and Todd.. Thankfully we aren't arguing or having problems but reading these always brings up closer together. I think I will read them before bed.

Tomorrow is Monday. Monday's are usually the start of any work week so my list will take place tomorrow morning.

Do you have a list? Do you need motivation to get up and do? I have three fellow bloggers who are "doing" and I am excited to see them make their goals!

2011 is going to be great!

Re-vamped Food Blog

So, I tried to update my food blog and think it looks pretty cool. My sister made the graphics for it this morning. YAY!!! It's still under construction but I think it looks good so far :)

A look back in 2010

Is it really already December 31, 2010? I wrote my 2010 goals and re-read them recently.. I must say, I accomplished 95% of those goals!

Last year, I said I would read 6 books .. I think I read 4. Hey, not bad for someone who hates to read!
I wanted us to be debt free:
I awanted to save $10,000.00. We were blessed with some money from Todd's disability with his former employer as well as the VA.
We paid off our credit cards, Thank you LORD!
Our 3 vehicles + stuff-hauler, aka trailer, are also paid off. The only thing we have left is our home here in NC and in FL.
We also purchased close to 6acres in Lillian, AL for our future home!
The Lord was good to us this year financially.

Todd's work-life has been confusing since we met in 2005 but slowly and surely, it's become more safe and less confusing. He was recently State Department certified to teach driving and firearms, which makes him finding contract jobs very easy. Thankfully, he won't be in harms-way anymore. He'll be teaching others instead of protecting.. My heart is at ease knowing he finally knows what he wants to be when he grows up :)

Let's see, what happened this year...
  • January - I was 3 months pregnant and was working 3 people's jobs at work. It was very stressful and I thought I was going to die from anxiety. My work hours were reduced to 32 hours a week and life was just a tad better.
  • February - Wow, life was a blur.. I can't remember much in this month. My g/f lost her sweet baby and I think I cried for about an hour after reading her blog. I don't know how she does it, but she is a strong woman. I've lost a father, but never a child.. Hey, guess what? You will see those lost babies in heaven! God has them in the palm of His hand!
  • We also found out this month we were having a boy. We named him instantly! Owen Neil Schrader. He's such a handsome young man :)
  • March - Todd and I celebrated our 3-year anniversary of marriage. As I look back, I can say 2010 was a great marital year for us. Year 1-2 were hard but year 3 was great. Here's to a better year 4!
  • April - I didn't post hardly anything on my blog so I must've been really tired. I was heading into my 3rd trimester and I was very sleepy then. Ha! I had a lovely baby shower at my moms home!
  • May - We were praying our home would sell. We had a lot of people look at it, but alas, no one bought it. Better luck this time!
  • June - We are gearing up for the baby to be born. Just one more month left. I had a great baby shower at work and I am prepared for his arrival. Work-wise, we got a new boss who is amazing. He is the best thing that has happened to that company in a long time. I truly hope he prospers there and can change some things there. He's very smart.
  • July - Owen is born!! But like Ayden, we weren't able to bring him home. What's worse than leaving your baby in the NICU? I don't know.. it's horrible. I had a bad epidural affect and had a reverse epidural to stop my spinal fluid from leaking. I am glad God made me a strong woman.. this was the worst pain I had ever been in. I then went hysterical with laughing/crying.. It hurt. Badly. Man, was I ready to get home. Then, the nurse comes in with Owen in an incubator and took him to a different hospital. Wow, our hearts sank and we cried together for a long time.. We were ready to get home and sleep. Our man came home 6 days after he was born and is fine and healthy!
  • August - Ayden turns 7! My husband was gone training and flew my sister up for a surprise. I thought it was my mom and was in utter shock when I saw my sister walk up to my truck. I love her endlessly.. She is the best sister EVER!!!!!!
  • September - my birthday .. and I was given the opportunity to work from home. I didn't want to work and put the baby in daycare so my boss helped me out and let me work from home for almost 3 months. It was HARD!
  • October - Still busy. Hating working from home. I was still a salaried exempt employee but my life was 'hard'. I had time for Owen and my job. I didn't have time for Ayden or Todd or me. I knew my time with Blackwater would soon end.
  • November - a few weeks before Thanksgiving, I gave my resignation. I could've stayed on for a bonus in December but honestly, it was way too hard and I gave myself a bonus.. being a stay at home mommy. Now I clean, do laundry, do the dishes and take care of the kids.. BEST job I've ever had! :)
  • December - Well, this month is finally at a close. We went to MI for Christmas and Todd was sick on Christmas Day. He's upset he missed Owen's first Christmas.. He was 'fine' in the morning and got to see Ayden open his presents at least! I told him "Don't worry, there will be more Christmas-es"

I'm happy this year is coming to an end. I love a new year .. it is the beginning of a new chapter in my life and I'm praying God continues to bless my family the way he blessed us last year. He has always found favor in me.. I always run into money and it's not by chance either! God blesses us for some reason.. I hope 2011 goes well. I hope our country turns around and thrives. I do think prophecy is being fulfilled though and am grateful I know where my family is going when "that time" comes.

So, for 2011 - I wish you peace, joy, happiness, love, wealth. Be blessed beyond all measures.. hey, when you're blessed, why don't you turn around and bless someone else :)

God is Amazing

Christmas card 2010

Just wanted to post a cute Christmas card of my sweet boys. I took the picture and my future-bro-in-law edited it for me. Ha! I am so dumb when it comes to photoshop or whatever you fancy people use :D

So, I am only sending this to my family. I was lazy.. no.. I was busy with a 5 month old and didn't make time to get addresses. So, here's your virtual Christmas card!

Here's to an early New Years Resolution

Well, it's been 15 months since I was able to work out and I started again this past week. My neighbor sent me her copy of 30-Day Shred and I've done it 3 times already. Level one has kicked my butt, but in a good way. I love the feeling of working out and getting healthy again. It's been too long since I looked and felt good. I'm glad she sent it to me! I bought a used copy from amazon.com with my swagbucks FOR FREE!!! and it should be here this week so I can return the neighbors copy.
The only goal I am setting for myself this year is to be healthy. I have tons of allergy problems and get sinus infections that kick my tail. I don't know how I'm going to do it without my allergy shots, but I am going to find something that makes me well if I get sick. Working out will help fight infection and it will make me feel pretty again. I haven't felt pretty in so long!
What are your goals? :)
